Our design team is comprised of 30+ professional Civil Engineers, Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians who are skilled at developing detailed land development and municipal engineering projects in a team setting. All of our staff liaise with clients, project team members, municipal, government, and regulatory staff in order to support senior staff in coordinating complicated projects.

Gary Pearson, P.Eng.
As Principal of Pearson Engineering Ltd. and with 25+ years experience in civil engineering and municipal land development, Mr. Gary Pearson has been fortunate to witness the firm’s growth and expansion across Ontario. From humble beginnings in 2006 in Barrie, Pearson Engineering now has offices in the GTA, Ottawa and Owen Sound and has also recently added structural engineering to our available services.
As Principal, Gary is responsible for the overall corporate financials and final approvals of detailed engineering design and construction services. Gary has developed solid and long standing relationships with our clients and multiple levels of government agencies, ensuring that the proper resources are allocated to meet each projects’ needs and timelines.
Being a member of numerous associations such as, SCHBA, BILD, GOHBA, GBHBTA, as well as many construction associations, Gary is commited to continually staying current with industry standards and going above and beyond them.
Gary feels that education is extremely important and this is why Pearson Engineering provides many opportunities for all levels of staff to attend industry related seminars and courses. As a member of the Civil Engineering Technician/Technology Program Advisory Committee at Georgian College in Barrie, Gary works to provide input on the evolving nature of our industry and how to best prepare graduates entering the workforce.
It is imperitive that we are connected with the communities in which we live and work and Gary is grateful to have staff who share this enthusiasm. Pearson Engineering’s envolvement in many charity events, sponsorship of various youth organizations and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, has helped to shape our culture in to that of mutual respect and dedication in everything we do.

Mike Dejean, P.Eng.
Mr. Mike Dejean, P.Eng. Partner & Manager of Engineering, has 25+ years of experience as a civil engineer for land development and municipal engineering projects. As Manager of Engineering Design, Mr. Dejean is responsible for client and agency contact and ensuring that the quality of engineering designs obtains approvals in a timely and cost-effective manner. He has designed and managed the detailed design and approval of various large subdivisions/site plans and Master Watershed Studies including roadworks, grading, servicing and Stormwater Management Pond designs, and is experienced in overseeing the completion of Functional Servicing Reports, SWM Reports and detailed designs for municipal roadworks, industrial developments, residential subdivisions, commercial and institutional site plans. Mike is highly skilled in the area of Stormwater Management including design and approval of Stormwater Pond designs for quantity/quality control and floodline modeling and delineation. Organized and attention to detail ensures directing the detailed design of the ever changing Low Impact Development (LID’s) SWM designs to obtain approvals from Municipal and Conservation Authorities in a timely and cost effective manner.

Claudio Annecca, C.E.T.
Mr. Claudio Annecca, CET, is the Manager of Contract Administration and was one of Pearson Engineering’s original team members. Mr. Annecca’s 25+ years of management experience in contract administration and inspection services of land development and municipal projects includes a thorough understanding of the construction industry through his interactions with numerous developers, contractors, sub-consultants, and municipal staff. Mr. Annecca and his construction services team provides a common-sense approach to technical challenges for all construction services provided at Pearson Engineering.

Taylor Arkell, P.Eng.
Mr. Taylor Arkell, P.Eng., Senior Project Engineer, has 10+ years’ experience in the civil engineering and land development industry. He has completed numerous residential subdivision and commercial designs including stormwater management design and analysis, FSRs, site servicing, plan and profiles, grading, SWM, and environmental protection plans for sites of all shapes and sizes across the province of Ontario within efficient and effective timeframes. His experience with many different conservation authorities provides him with the ability to confidently meet the guidelines of each authority, while still ensuring client expectations and needs are understood.

April Cleaves, B.A. Tech., C.E.T.
Mrs. April Cleaves, B.A. Tech., C.E.T., Senior Project Manager, has 15+ years of experience in civil and land development project management and design engineering sectors. As a Project Manager and Designer she has completed numerous site plan and subdivision land development sites including coordination with municipalities, reviewing and approval agencies and the project teams as well as overseeing the design works for municipal and private servicing, grading, earthworks and stormwater management. April is experienced in completing high quality design works in highly efficient and effective timeframes and works as the primary contact with clients and the external consultants from project conception through to closeout.

Mr. Pieter Oorebeek, C.E.T., rcsi, Senior Project Manager, has 20+ years of experience completing numerous municipal road designs, residential subdivisions, and commercial designs, including site servicing, plan and profiles, grading, stormwater management, and environmental protection plans. Further experience with sanitary treatment designs and pumpstations provide additional depth to our services. Mr. Oorebeek is experienced in completing high quality design works in highly efficient and effective timeframes.

Senior Project Manager
Nicole Wells, C.E.T.
Ms. Nicole Wells, C.E.T., Project Manager, has 8+ years of experience in civil engineering. Her educational background and experience support her work in project management, regulatory and municipal approvals, quality control, design, and contract administration. Nicole provides support to Business Development in Ottawa, securing new work and external engagement. She collaborates with Clients as a single point of contact on different projects and phases of the project delivery while also working with representatives from other consultants to facilitate project coordination and resolve issues and risks as they arise. Nicole is experienced in development of detailed design and coordination with technical staff, developing and completing site development projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D, surveys analysis, review of field notes, maps, aerial photographs and other material to identify potential project constraints and best approach in developing and completing projects on time and on budget. Nicole is familiar with municipal zoning by-laws, reviewing technical reports, building code, and other local design standards to ensure compliance.

Alex Aiello, C.E.T.
Mr. Alex Aiello, C.E.T., Project Manager has over 7 years of experience in civil engineering. Throughout these years he has developed a wide range of skills in project management, the review of engineering reports and drawings, coordination with regulatory bodies, and contract administration. Alex’s day-to-day consists of abstracting creative solutions to complex problems, the development of comprehensive design plan by collaborating with staff and other consultant teams, coordination with field services involved in surveys and inspections, on-site review, and cost estimate breakdowns. Alex is equipped to deal with understanding local and provincial regulatory agency design standards, the review of technical reports and drawings, and communicating with the project team to ensure details are coordinated across plans.

Jesse Borges, P.Eng., PMP
Mr. Jesse Borges, P. Eng. Structural Project Manager, joined the Pearson Engineering team in the summer of 2023. His 9+ years of experience and his background education in structural engineering ensures effective designs for new projects along with accurate assessments of existing condition. He works closely with our professional design team, overseeing all building inspections and designs, as well as all bridge and culvert inspections and replacement projects. Mr. Borges also oversees the tender preparation, contract administration and construction review for all structural projects being completed at Pearson Engineering.

Mr. Phil Reid, C.Tech., rcsi, CAN-CISEC #0857, Field Servicing Coordinator/Senior Site Inspector has 20+ years of experience in field coordination, construction inspection and contract administration services of land development and municipal projects. Mr. Reid is certified in MTO construction practices and is responsible for on-site inspection of construction works. Mr. Reid’s experience on MTO projects is valuable on our private and municipal inspection projects.
