  • Replacement of critically deteriorated SPCSP culvert
  • Coordination with utility and regulatory agencies
  • Coordination of culvert barrel pre-purchasing process
In 2025, Pearson Engineering was engaged by the Township of Georgian Bluffs to complete the detailed design and tender preparation for the replacement of Structure K-0009, a deteriorated single-span SPCSP arch culvert located on Big Bay Sideroad. During the biennial OSIM inspection completed by Pearson Engineering in 2024, the structure was identified to be in critical condition, exhibiting large perforations, deformations along the barrel walls, and signs of buckling / premature structural failure. Construction included the full replacement of the culvert structure, construction of a new retaining wall and headwall system, improvements to roadway geometry, and the installation of new steel beam guiderail systems. Due to the time-sensitive construction schedule, the new SPCSP arch culvert was pre-purchased by the Township through a competitive quotation process with fabricators.
