Saugeen River Bridge Enhanced Inspection

Project Type: Structural Assessments
Market: Municipal
Client: Town of Saugeen Shores
Date: Spring 2024

About this Project

Services Performed: Enhanced visual inspection of concrete soffit and steel superstructure, coordination of aerial access equipment and traffic control, preparation of condition photo documentation, development of repair recommendations, preparation of construction cost estimates, and preparation of an action report to support rehabilitation planning
  • Specialized aerial access equipment to improve inspection coverage
  • Traffic control coordination on a major roadway crossing
  • Rehabilitation versus replacement costing evaluations
In 2024, Pearson Engineering was engaged by the Town of Saugeen Shores to complete an enhanced structural inspection of the Saugeen River Bridge in Southampton (SS-13) to better assess the condition of the concrete soffit and extensive steel superstructure. Due to the vertical clearance of the structure over the water, specialized aerial lift equipment was mobilized on to site to obtain a more detailed visual review of critical structural components. The inspection findings were utilized to confirm current condition, identify localized repair needs, and provide practical recommendations and costing for future rehabilitation work
